It feels like it was only yesterday that I was all excited to be telling you guys that we were going on holiday. And now here comes a family holiday update for you all. I’m sure you can guess what I’m about to write. It was something that we had booked in January, after saving up our money for a little while. Having not been away in 6 years, a holiday was something which I was greatly looking forward to. And then Coronavirus hit the world…

So our family holiday has been cancelled. Initially, I felt bad for feeling sad about this, what with everything else that has been going on. I know it’s the right thing, and I know that it needs to happen to protect vulnerable people in the world and prevent the spread of disease.. but it sucks. It well and truly sucks. It was, after all, the first time I was going to be going abroad in six(!) years. And now I’m not. Well not yet anyway.

My heart sank when the email came through. Seeing the words “Important Update About Your Holiday”.. I knew exactly what this was going to be. Thanks to Covid-19 I know a lot of people who are experiencing cancellations. And I am gutted for every single one of them. People who had booked birthday celebrations, once in a lifetime trips to DisneyWorld, people who had made plans to visit friends, family members and loved ones.. every single one of the trips cancelled almost overnight.

So here we are. I have 6 days off in April and nothing to do with them now. Six days which I was going to be using to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and get away from the stress of every day life. And now, we aren’t going to be going anywhere, or doing anything. Instead, we are going to be enjoying one another’s company in the confines of our own house.

Of course, we will rebook our family holiday when this is all over and the world returns to normal (whenever that may be). We will still look forward to venturing to the worlds biggest water park, and enjoying ourselves on a very much needed break. We will still look forward to our little holiday away to Berlin. To see a part of Europe which I have never seen and enjoy a little time away with our little family.

I will look forward to updating you guys when we have rebooked our holiday and are actually going. I’m still hoping to share our holiday to Tropical Island Resort with you guys and am looking forward to blogging about our experience there.
