I’m going to keep this one short and sweet, mainly because I don’t really know what to write because I am still in shock. But a couple of days ago, my partner got down on one knee, produced a ring from his pocket and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him! Yes. Steve asked me to marry him. And I said yes. Ahhhhh!
I honestly never thought this day was going to come. Me and Steve have been together for 10 years, we have moved to Nottingham, had 2 children together and own a house. But he still hadn’t popped the question. I never thought he would ask me to marry him. Goodness, we’ve talked about it loads. But I never expected the actual day to come.
Also, he did the old fashioned thing and actually got down on one knee. In the middle of our local country park. Something else which I never expected him to do. All round, this was a total surprise.
It wasn’t as he’d planned it. We were meant to be on holiday at Tropical Island’s Resort in Germany. He’s been planning this holiday for months now, been speaking about it for weeks and he was devastated with the Covid-19 lockdown happened, which meant we couldn’t go. Me being more relaxed, I just told him that we could rebook it for another time, which he wasn’t happy with. And now I know why, because he had everything planned out to ask me to marry him.
I am super excited! There’s so much to think about. Wedding planning is going to take over my life, and I can’t wait! Also, I love stationary so this is the perfect excuse to buy some new bits and bobs. Wow, that sounds a bit tragic doesn’t it! I’ve just got engaged and all I can think about is some new stationary! hahahha.
We’ve had some initial ideas and started thinking about the type of thing which we might want. We’ve spoken about some idea’s for colour schemes and what type of venue we might like. But we haven’t got much further.
I don’t want to risk sounding too cringy. I don’t want to be one of those people who bores everyone to death talking about their engagement and wedding, when actually no one cares too much! But I do want to share bits of our journey with you guys, and it’s exciting and a big part of my life at the moment.
I have decided that for the time being I am going to be enjoying our engagement. It sucks being in lockdown and not being able to celebrate properly with our family and friends. Once this is all over, I know that we will go out and celebrate with everyone and I think that’s when the fact we are engaged will properly sink in. Because at the moment it all feels surreal.
