I cannot quite believe my littlest baby is turning one next month. One whole year of looking at her beautiful, cheeky smile. Ah, my smallest child is growing quickly. And so, with Molly’s all important first birthday looming I am desperately trying to think of some presents which I can buy her, that we don’t already have.. When your children have a playroom which is bursting at the seams with toys, this is quite a challenge! So, my first birthday gift guide is coming into play.
I’ve been on the hunt for a while for gifts. I’ve been putting off from buying anything until closer to the time. However, now with just 3 short weeks left to go, and not many shops open due to lockdown, I guess I should probably crack on and buy some things! In todays’ world of social media, I have enlisted the help of my followers to ask for ideas and great gifts and I’ve compiled a little first birthday gift guide to help all you other mama’s out.
Let’s face it a child’s first birthday is usually full of celebration, completely over the top and full of unnecessary gifts. I remember going so over the top with Georgie’s presents and buying some completely useless things. With Molly, I want to buy her a few useful gifts which I know that she is going to love. Of course, I’ll still probably go completely over the top.. I mean, I’ve already planned her big birthday cake smash and am looking at having a little birthday party too. (Obviously, due to Covid19 I’m not hopeful for the big party which we had planned!)
This is something which we bought for Georgie’s first birthday, and he absolutely loves it. Up to this day he uses this every single time he plays in the garden, and it’s perfect for him to hop around on, throw around and helps him burn off some of his endless energy. I love the Happy Hopperz collection because a) there are so many different characters to choose from, b) they’re perfect for developing balance and coordination and c) you can have hours of bouncing fun!
I’ve already got my eye on the Rainbow Unicorn one for Molly, which is one of the new designs alongside Buddy the Dog and Grey Dragon. These join an ever-growing collection of fun designed animals which are suitable for children from 12 months to 5 Years.
So I only stumbled across these recently, but they are the cutest little dolls which I have ever seen. I feel like every child should own a Dinkum Doll! Created by Olli Ella with a soft body, posable limbs, a moveable head and the ability to stand up. They’re designed to inspire children and develop nurturing and friendship. There’s 6 different designs to chose from, each with their own name. You can buy cute little accessories, shoes and outfits as well to match. Wait until you see them though, I immediately fell in love. And one of these is definitely, definitely going on Molly’s birthday list.
Curve Lab Board
If you are looking for a modern balance board, which is stylish and perfect for creativity and coordination then look no further. So many people have recommended this to me as a gift for Molly’s birthday, and I can see why. I expect kids can have hours of fun with a Curve Lab Arc , letting their imagination run wild and playing and exploring too. They can be used in so many different ways, in fact the possibilities are endless! I definitely think I’ll be getting one of these, I love watching children’s imagination soar and this is the perfect gift for that!
Okay. This product is genius! If, like many parents, you are reluctant to let your children do messy play inside the house because you’re worried about the state of mess that they’re going to make, then this is the perfect solution. Crafty Pods are a wipeable, durable, foldable pod which come is 3 different sizes (120cm, 150cm & 180cm) and are perfect for using during messy play, outdoor play, and much more! They literally fold down into a 30cm flat-pack bag and can be stored anywhere, taken on-the-go and stop the house from getting messy! A genius idea if ever I came across one.
If you are looking for a bright, fun, foldaway ride on for your baby then look no further. The Scuttlebug is a nifty little trike, full of personality, which is going to make the perfect little companion for your baby. Perfect for helping children to develop balance and steering skills, whilst letting them burn off energy. There are 4 different bugs to choose from as well, so you’re bound to find one which you love. Personally, I’ve got my eye on the butterfly!
Lastly, I want to share with you some other bits which I’ve got my eye on for Molly. If it was Christmas, I would call these ‘stocking fillers’. Smaller presents to bulk out the gift unwrapping which aren’t mega expensive, but your baby is going to love!
That’s Not My… Books
Made my usbourne these are a favourite in our house. These touchy-feely books are so perfect for babies and younger children. There’s a whole host of titles to choose from – we’ve gone for ‘That’s Not My.. Hamster’ and ‘That’s Not My.. Piglet’ for Molly’s birthday, and they will be joining our ever growing collection.
If you’re looking for some heuristic play toys and sensory toys then this is the website. They’re stocked on Amazon and you can get prime delivery on most things (bonus!). We’ve chosen a few things for Molly, like this Wooden Rainbow, these Colour Light Pannels and these Wooden Rainbow Discs.
Little Tikes Rocking Horse
And I couldn’t resist this Little Tikes Rocking Horse. They come in two colours, Magenta (which I’ve linked) and Blue. These can be used indoors or in the garden and are perfect for having a bit of fun.
There are so many more things you could buy for your babies first birthday. This is just a handful of the products available! I have loved compiling this list, and sharing it with you guys; if you would love to see more like this then let me know!
